THE LEGEND OF TANGKUBAN PRAHU MOUNTAIN

Once upon a time, there was a woman named Dayang Sumbi. One day, when she waving, she lost her needle. She said a promise, “If there is a man which find my needle, I will become him my husband. And if a woman, I will become her my sister.” Unfortunately, her needle found by the male dog, Tumang. Because of her promise, she might marry with the dog.

From her married, she had a child named Sangkuriang. A day, Dayang Sumbi would to eat squirrel liver. Then, Sangkuriang went hunting in a forest with Tumang. Arived there, Sangkuriang saw a squirrel. He asked Tumang to chased that. But Tumang didn’t do that, because he knew that the squirrel is his law parent.
Sangkuriang angry with Tumang. He hited and killed Tumang. He didn’t know that Tumang was his father. Then, he went home. After arriving in home, Sangkuriang gave Tumang’s liver to his mother.

After eating the liver, Dayang Sumbi looked for Tumang. But she didn’t find him. She asked to Sangkuriang.
“Do you know where is Tumang?”
“I was kill him, because he didn’t follow my command,” said Sangkuriang.
“Hah, you killed Tumang? You’re rebellious boy!” said Dayang Sumbi while hited him.

Since that moment, Sangkuriang thrown out from his home.

Some years later, when he was adult he met Dayang Sumbi. He didn’t know that the woman was his mother. Because of that, he would to marry her with his proposal. But Dayang Sumbi refused it, because she knew that he was her son.

But finally she aggred. But she had a requisite for Sangkuriang. She said that if Sangkuriang could make her a big ship just the one night, she would to marry with him.

Because of Dayang Sumbi’s clever, Sangkuriang couldn’t fulfill her requisite. He was angry and kicked the ship. Then the ship turned upside down and become montain of Tangkuban Perahu.
