STRUCTURE AND THE FUNCTION OF PLANT BODY

1. Root
Root is one of plant part that commonly found in soil. It has very many function, such as :
1. Absorbing the water and mineral from soil.
2. As a storage of food reservation.
3. Supporting the plant body.
4. Helping plant to do respiration.
Structure Of Root :
a. Outer Structure
• Root hairs
It has function to enlarge the absorption region of water and mineral.
• Root cap (Calyptra)
Calyptra has function to protect the top of root that has very soft characteristic and it easily to broken.
b. Inner Structure
• Epidermis
It’s function to form the root hair.
• Cortex
It’s function as a food reservation.
• Endodermis
It’s to control the flow of water and mineral from cortex to stele.
• Stele
In this part, there are two vasculars : Xylem and Floem. Xylem has function to transport the water and mineral. If Floem, it has function to transport the photosynthesis product.

2. Stem
Stem is one of part in plant that has function to distribute water and mineral from root to leaves. There are two kinds of stem: Dicotyledon stem and Monocotyledon stem. The difference between those stem is:
1. Dicotyledon stem : The cambium is exist.
Monocotyledon stem : There is no cambium.
2. Dicotyledon stem : The growth is enlargement and enlenghten.
Monocotyledon stem : The growth is enlenghten.
3. Dicotyledon stem : The location of transport bundle is regular.
Monocotyledon stem : The location of transport bundle is spreading.

3. Leaf
We knew that leaf is a place where the photosynthesis process activity. It cause, because in leaf there is a chlorophyl. But beside that, it has function as place of gaseous exchange. This activity found in stomata.

4. Flower
Beside as ornament jewelry of plant, it also as a generative reproduction organ. Flower invide into two kinds:
1. Perfect flower : is flower that has
2. Complete flower : is flower that has generative reproduction and ornaments.

5. Fruit
It’s function as plant embryo. Fruit separted into two kinds :
1. Fruit (Buah sejati)
Is fruit that is formed by all tissue in ovary. Example : tomato and papaya.
2. False Fruit (Buah semu)
Is fruit that is formed not only by all tissue, but also form another parts of flower. Example : apple and pineapple.
